Orthopaedics and Traumatology

Our orthopaedics department provides surgical and non-surgical treatment of bone, joint, muscle and ligament disease. Knee and hip replacement, meniscus and cruciate ligament repair, shoulder arthroscopy and spine surgery are the most common procedures.

Before surgery, patients join a preparation programme of anaesthesia, physiotherapy and nursing education. Thanks to an enhanced recovery (ERAS) protocol, knee replacement patients usually start walking the day after surgery.

An orthopaedic doctor is on call 24/7 for urgent trauma such as fractures and dislocations. Separate clinic days run for paediatric orthopaedics and hand surgery.
